If God gives such attention to the
appearance of wildflowers—most of which are
never even seen—don't you think he'll attend to
you, take pride in you, do his best for you?
What I'm trying to do here is to get you to
relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so
you can respond to God's giving. People who
don't know God and the way he works fuss over
these things, but you know both God and how he
works. Steep your life in God-reality,
God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry
about missing out. You'll find all your everyday
human concerns will be met.
—Matthew 6:30-33 (The
Message)
Everyone today is talking about the economy
and how there are signs that the economy is
turning around. Many people are breathing a sigh
of relief. However, there are still a lot of
American families who are hurting. For example,
my husband just lost his job for the second year
in a row. I am faced with the choice of how I am
going to respond to the fact that he no longer
has a
full-time job, and I currently do not have a
job. Am I going to run in fear or run to God in
faith?
I am choosing to run to God. I am a blood-bought daughter of the Most High God. I am choosing to look at things through God’s perspective. I am choosing to seek first the kingdom of God and trust the Lord with my needs.
I challenge you to look at your life through God’s eyes. Do not judge your life by the world’s standards, but by God’s. Look at all the blessings that are in your life and give God thanks. Choose to walk in thankfulness and have a heart full of gratitude no matter what your circumstances are.
