You and I ... Flowers and Logic
by Sharon L. Patterson
You think
I am too flowery...
Perhaps that is so.
But that is the expression
Of my inner heart
Longing to awaken
Some untouched string
Of your love.
I think
You are too logical...
Perhaps that is not so.
For...
From where comes
This strong enduring embrace
That binds
Without practical words or flowers?
In Need of You
by Sharon L. Patterson
I need you for so many things...
For a mirror of my true motives
When, deep-seated in prideful thoughts
You...
By the emotions you evoke
Reveal my selfishness
Causing a desire to reach outward
To grasp what I want most to see in your eyes...
Me ... adored!
When
by Sharon L. Patterson
It is not when sunset is at its most glorious hue,
Or when the harvest moon looms large enough
For a theatrical backdrop
For lovers' sweet whisperings.
It is not when birds gather
Hosting in melodious unison
The return of Spring.
It is when the cold gray dawn
Stretches into an unexpected series
Of long winter nights...
When the sun hides...
Purposely dodging day's reflections.
This is when I love you most.
For it is then the warmth of your love enfolds me
And its fire burns brightest.
The Love He Sends
by Sharon L. Patterson
The love of God, who can begin to understand?
But He says, "Come here, my child, open your hand."
"Oh, Father, there is nothing there but loneliness and
pain,
I can not possibly, open it again."
Then, gently, the Father takes another hand so scarred,
It's heavily pierced, and deeply marred,
And places it tenderly over my own;
Suddenly, understanding is quietly sown.
For now I know His love means caring;
It is infinite, so full of sharing.
Outward, now, my hand extends to another,
To you, with the love He sends.
