Yet I Will Rejoice in the Lord

Autumn treeHabakkuk 3:17-18 states:

Though the fig tree may not blossom
Nor fruit be on the vine
Though the labor of the olive may fail
And the fields yield no food
Though the flock be cut off from the fold
And there be no herd in the stalls—
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord
I will joy in the God of my salvation.

A Modern Paraphrase

Though the IRA loses value
And bond prices decrease
Though banks and businesses fail
And investments yield no dividends
Though the stock market fluctuates greatly
And there is no money in the pension fund—
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord
I will joy in the God of my salvation.
