It Only Took Three Nails

Jesus' handsIt only took three nails
To nail Christ to the cross
Yet He chose to be there
To save the sinful lost.

Three nails held Him in place
On that accursed tree
As He suffered and died
To ransom you and me.

Was it really three nails
Which pierced His feet and hands
That kept Him hanging there
To fulfill the law’s demands?

Was it our transgressions
The known and the unknown
That nailed Him to that cross
Where He felt so alone?

No, it was His great love
That placed and held Him there
For the love of humankind
His crown of thorns did wear.
