Poems to Ponder
Monthly Column by Jan Lutz

Autumn

Playing in AutumnWhen you hear the school bell ringing
And the children gaily singing,
When you see the bright leaves fall
And the children in them crawl,
When you see farmers harvest corn—
Then you'll know it's autumn.

When you see brilliant flames leap high
Outlined against the azure sky,
When you smell spicy pumpkin pie
Cooling on the sill so high,
When you hear the honk of geese—
Then you'll know it's autumn.
