"Be prepared.” The motto for the Scouts rings true for us as professional businesswomen. We never know where our next potential client or team member will come from. If we aren’t prepared, we could miss out on wonderful opportunities to establish relationships with awesome women.
On June 30th, I ventured to the zoo with my son, David, along with a friend and her two children. As I was packing my bag with snacks and drinks, I decided to put business cards, a pen, and several catalogs in with our nourishment. This is not something that I typically do when heading out for an adventure with my child. I honestly didn’t anticipate needing them. We were at the zoo of all places. Where would an opportunity present itself to talk about skincare and makeup?
Good thing that I followed the Holy Spirit’s leading and not my own. While at the zoo, we saw another friend from our church. She was there with her family. Her oldest daughter whom I had never met before was with her. They saw my Mary Kay bag which was holding all my snacks and supplies. We started talking about Mary Kay products while we were enjoying a nice breeze under the shade of a tree. I gave out two business cards and collected the oldest daughter’s information. They were both interested in booking parties. If I was up with technology, I could have tentatively booked two classes there at the zoo. It is amazing what we can accomplish when we are prepared.
We can be successful in our business by simply being prepared. Being prepared saves us time, energy, and money. What can we do to be prepared? First, carry your business cards with you everywhere you go. Second, make sure to have a pen so you can get the potential client’s information. Third, if you can, carry along current catalog, order forms, and your calendar.
Let’s work on being prepared and see where this takes us!
