As the leaves turn orange, red, or gold and November sweeps away the memory of costumes, candy, and smiling pumpkins, our thoughts turn to giving thanks to God for His provision and mercy. Thanksgiving was always a special time for me. Family traditions created an atmosphere of bountiful celebration. Family and friends gathered to share a meal and take a moment out of busy schedules of work and school to take notice of the good things God had provided throughout the year.
Thanksgiving still holds a special place in my thoughts, but now I give thanks for a very different reason. You see, it was this time of remembrance and gratefulness which gave way to the life changing event that snapped me out of eight years of stubborn rebellion and spiritual deception. Now I commemorate the merciful power of my Savior, Jesus Christ, who delivered me, one dark Thanksgiving weekend.
