Adam and Eve were dwelling
In the Garden of Eden
Satan came to tempt them
And lead them into sin.
He used their visual senses
And their curiosity
To lure them to partake of
Forbidden fruit of the Tree.
He told that sinless woman
What she wanted to believe
She sinned and tempted Adam
Who sinned and then blamed Eve.
And although we call this
Humankind’s fall into sin
With aspirations upward
Is how it did begin.
Though not content with being
Created in God’s image
They tried to become like Him
And death became their wage.
In seeking to be more
Than God for them intended
They became much less
And life in the Garden ended.
As sons and daughters of these two
We also sometimes yield
To senses and curiosity—
Our sinful nature revealed.
But we are not forsaken
In our sinful condition
For God has made provision
For humankind’s salvation.
And crafty as that Serpent is
His fate has its seal
For He shall bruise the Serpent’s head
And he shall bruise His heel.
