This is a great way to prepare broccoli. It’s fast, easy, and actually tastes good! Plus it even takes advantage of the stems, which, honestly, I used to throw away. Now, they are my favorite part!
You will need:
1 pound broccoli
1/3 cup water
1 Tablespoon butter
First, cut the stems off of the heads and peel them. Be sure to peel down to the pale green hearts, the tough outer layer will not get tender enough to enjoy. Slice the peeled stems into about 1/2 inch pieces. Place the pieces in a pot and pour the water on top. Then cut the florets into small pieces and put them all on top. Put the pot on a cold burner and turn it up to high. Set your timer for 3 minutes and don’t get too distracted! When the timer goes off, turn the heat down to low and cook for 3 more minutes. Then toss in the butter and stir until it melts into a light sauce. Serve immediately.
